Folkestone Academy Skatepark was built in September 2024, after six weeks of construction work. It will act as a feeder for the nearby F51 skatepark and climbing facility.
The facility will provide students with a safe, controlled environment to develop their skills, build confidence and increase physical activity levels. It will also support with school attendance.
As a school we hope the park will encourage students to consider active travel options and improve their health and well being.
The building of the skatepark was funded by the charity, Friends of Folkestone Academy (FFA) which supports both Folkestone Academy and Folkestone Primary.
FFA raises money throughout the school year and gives grants for items and services to enhance children’s education that are not covered by funds from the government.
Over the next year Folkestone Academy along with other primary and secondary schools in the Trust will have access to the skatepark during supervised PE lessons and lunchtime and afterschool clubs.
We are working with external Skate Schools in the local area to support these activities and provide Saturday clubs for the wider community.
