From Year 8 all pupils have the opportunity to join the Combined Cadet Force. It is very popular among pupils as it allows them to develop teamwork skills through taking part in a wide range of activities, including annual camps and adventure training expeditions.

Cadets continuing in the CCF in Year 10 can also obtain a number of qualifications to recognise their achievements, including the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze and Silver Award and First Aid at Work certificate. These are great skills to have in the world of work.

To gain these skills cadets are led by a variety of staff in the school led by Captain Baynes.

Pupils also have the opportunity to present and produce radio shows on our award-winning radio station Academy FM.
