Turner 25 - Preparing our Pupils
As a Trust we work hard to ensure our pupils receive a high-quality and academically focused education, however this is by no means the limit of our ambitions. There is a wealth of evidence highlighting the challenges facing children who grow up in coastal communities like ours, and it is so important that we go beyond the classroom to support young people in all aspects of their lives.
Our eight schools serve pupils from 2-18 across Folkestone, Dover and Canterbury covering some of the most deprived communities in the South East, which is why we want to provide the extracurricular activities that we know will prove hugely important to their long-term development.
Our ‘T25’ experiences can broadly be divided into the following categories:

Below is the list of 25 activities our pupils will complete during the 5 years they are at Folkestone Academy. At the end of Year 11 they will be awarded a Turner 25 certificate.
Be an ambassador in a volunteering day.
Communicate with someone from another country.
Create a CV and applications for a role.
Take a cultural trip to London.
Interview ex pupils 5 years on.
Learn basic cooking skills.
Learn First Aid Skills.
Learn to play a musical instrument.
Participate in a STEM challenge day.
Participate in a challenging work placement.
Participate in a community event.
Participate in a democratic process.
Participate in a motivational event.
Participate in a national competition.
Participate in a residential trip.
Participate in external independent study skills workshops.
Participate in Sixth Form / College taster sessions.
Participate in Sixth Form Futures Fortnight.
Perform to an audience.
Raise money for a charity.
Try a new sport including at least one water sport.
Visit a religious place of worship.
Visit France.
Watch a live Shakespeare performance.
Work with younger children.
Turner 50
Pupils who join Folkestone Academy from one of our Trust primary schools will be awarded a Turner 50 award after completing both Turner 25 at primary school and Turner 25 at Folkestone Academy.
