Travelling to the Academy

Folkestone Academy is incredibly accessible, set in the heart of a local community in Folkestone.

We encourage our pupils to walk, use a scooter or bicycle where it is possible. We have bike racks that can securely store a large number of bikes during the day.

If you will be using a car to travel to school, we have a park and stride facility in Sainbury's car park in Park Farm which allows pupils to be dropped off there and walk the short distance to the Academy.

Bus Travel

For pupils who require to use a bus service, KCC has launched two Travel Schemes replacing the current Young Persons Travel Pass and Kent 16+ Travel Card.

The KCC Travel Saver is available to children in secondary school education and offers the same benefits as the current Young Persons scheme enabling parents the opportunity to halve the costs of bus travel rather than buying a ticket direct from operators.

The scheme represent a subsidy from KCC to parents of around £10m each year and means that KCC continues to support parents with the costs of bus travel more than any other Council in the UK outside of London. A feature of the scheme is the ability for parents to pay for the pass through a series of instalments, spreading the cost across 8 months.
