Folkestone Academy Football

Football Academy

Football Academy has been developed exclusively for students entering Year 12 and 13 and forms part of the Folkestone Academy Sixth Form. We have 20 places in each Year group to participate in 15 hours a week of coaching, which can work alongside up to three Level 3 courses.

Folkestone Academy has developed an exclusive partnership with M&M Football Academy which was established to provide learning pathways within the sport and leisure industry and now enables students to study their chosen career path as well as reaching their full potential. It also gives students the opportunity to progress to university or to proceed directly to employment.

In addition to following a two year educational programme, all Folkestone Football Academy students will have access to UEFA football coaching as well as competing on a weekly basis. Those selected to join the Academy must achieve the minimum entry requirements for their courses of study in order to be formally accepted into the Academy.

Students are trained by Sammy Moore and Jack Midson current footballers and directors of M&M Football Academy. Football sessions are based at The Three Hills Sports park and the education taught at the Folkestone Academy site. There will be opportunities to visit Pro training grounds and compete in Pro fixtures.

Along with state of the art training equipment being used, students will have daily advice and mentoring from Sammy and Jack on football, fitness and nutrition. Each student will have video analysis feedback after games from our video analysis representative.

Full training and match kit will be provided and will be worn by students at all times to look and feel professional.

Interviews with Mr Himbury, Head of Sixth Form, can be arrange to help you choose accompanying subjects.

How To Apply

There will be 20 places in each Year group awarded based on playing ability, but we also value attitude, commitment and integrity just as highly. Applicants for the Football Academy will be involved in selection trials and then interviewed at Folkestone Academy. Criteria for selection will include general entry requirements for the
Academy which are 5 A*- C grades at GCSE including English and Mathematics. Each application is viewed on its own merits, level of sporting representation and general commitment to sport.

For any Year 11 students interested in taking part please ensure you are dressed appropriately to play; including football boots, shin pads and anything else needed for a training session.

A meeting can be arranged with Mr Himbury, Head of Sixth Form to choose accompanying subjects by contacting [email protected]

Applications to the Folkestone Academy Sixth Form should normally be made via the Kent Choices website.

Please see your schools careers advisor or your Connexions personal advisor if you are unsure as to how to apply via the online prospectus. If you are unable to access a careers advisor or Connexions, please call Folkestone Academy direct for advice on how to apply.
