Sixth Form
Welcome to the Folkestone Academy Sixth Form.
We offer a welcoming, positive, supportive and ambitious learning environment. We expect all of our students to study hard, to enjoy their learning and to develop into fully rounded and successful adults.
The Sixth Form is based within the Academy in a bespoke area, with hubs used for private study, reading and research, a café area and a common room. Our sixth form leadership team (including careers) are based within these sixth form areas. As a school-based Sixth Form we benefit from the systems and structures in place, and are able to offer real leadership opportunities to our most senior students.
Our curriculum is broad and allows students to pursue a wide-range of academic and vocational subjects at Level Three (GCE A levels and BTEC / OCR). These are structured into guided pathways so that students are well prepared for making decisions around further study, apprenticeships and employment. We also offer a wide range of enrichment opportunities designed to develop leadership skills and a sense of independence, from the prefect board to Duke of Edinburgh and even cookery skills.
Our students use their qualifications to access a wide range of universities and degree subjects, alongside apprenticeships and the world of work. We take real pride in our careers provision and support which enables our students to leave with a real sense of direction and purpose.
Folkestone Academy Sixth Form is committed to helping all of our students realise their ambitions and to leave as truly successful, well-rounded and confident individuals. Our staff are highly skilled and dedicated to achieving this aim. We very much welcome visits and look forward to showing you around.
